The Academy of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery ("the Academy") provides whole lifelong career learning in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Wellness, Resiliency, and Recovery through vetted and important training and continuing education opportunities for professionals in the field.
The Academy's in-person, live webinar, and on-demand courses offerings provide educational opportunities for all levels of knowledge and experience; from those new to the field, to mid-level and senior staff and future leaders, to Program Directors and Chief Executives. The Academy's faculty are leading experts in psychiatric rehabilitation, to provide quality training and education through a combination of positive learning experiences and exceptional content.
With a learner-centered philosophy, the Academy has standardized instructional design to strengthen learning, identify best practices, and ensure consistency, regardless of the presenting faculty. The Academy achieves overall training goals through collaboration with like-minded groups and academic institutions, as well as people in recovery and peer support specialists.

Meet the Academy Chair
Veronica Carey, PhD, CPRP
Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Director of the Saturday Scholars Program at Drexel University
Dr. Carey works in concert with Academy global headquarter staff and volunteer leaders to deliver an agressive portfolio of skills training, continuing education and leadership enhancement opportunities to practitioners, managers and executives involved in psychiatric rehabilitation.
Prior to joining the Drexel University Behavioral Health Counseling faculty in 2011, Dr. Carey was a full-time faculty member for 10 years in Drexel‘s Department of Psychiatry, Division of Behavioral Healthcare Education. She has over 20 years of experience in behavioral health program planning and management, psychiatric rehabilitation continuing education training, and policy development.
Dr. Carey is a member of the International Committee for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Inclusion, and is Chair of the Test Oversight Committee of PRA's Certification Commission for Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery.
As a frequent guest lecturer and workshop presenter, Dr. Carey has addressed evidence-based best practices in recovery-oriented services, treatment planning, behavioral health care system practices, program planning, and implementation of psychiatric rehabilitation services. In November 2012, Dr. Carey presented at the WAPR conference in Milan, Italy on the importance of obtaining a certification in psychiatric rehabilitation. Her articles on direct-care staff development in community-based treatment settings have been published in the “Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal”; “Psychiatric Services" and “PsyRConnections.”

Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education is approved by the American Psychological Asociation (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education maintains responsibility for its programming and content. | |
Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)The Academy of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery ("the Academy"), provider #1170, is approved as a provider of social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB – www.aswb.org) through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. As of November 2022, PRA has elected to no longer be an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP).
